Tracy Livingston is a K-12 teacher with 16 years of experience in the classroom, board member of the Maricopa Community College Governing Board, and a former board member of Peoria Unified School District. Tracy is a student of the Montessori philosophy of curriculum following the child, rather than the child following the curriculum. She understands that young students can and will develop at their own pace – not a pace dictated by bureaucrats in D.C. or Phoenix.
After getting her feet wet in the classroom teaching a combined class of gifted 1st and 2nd graders, in 1991 Tracy followed her husband, Representative David Livingston, to Arizona and went back to school to attain her master’s degree in education and start her career in Buckeye, Arizona as a 2nd grade teacher in a class made up largely of English language learners. Equipped with an interpreter and aide, Tracy soon found her passion in helping the neediest of students.
Mrs. Livingston’s career then brought her closer to home, teaching in the Deer Valley Unified School District, and most recently Dysart Unified at Dysart High School.
In addition to her public education experience, Tracy has personally experienced and supports home-schooling since it became part of her life and her family’s language for a few years as their son was an accomplished tennis player and they needed flexibility in his schedule: an experience that helped open Tracy's eyes to the vast range of educational possibilities outside of public school classrooms.
First elected in 2014, Tracy is a member and former President of the Maricopa Community College Governing Board. Before that, she served two years on the Peoria Unified School Board. Tracy has also served as an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman in Legislative District 22 since 2011.
Tracy and David have one son, Kyle, who is an EMT in Prescott, Arizona. The family currently lives in Peoria with their two rescue Siberian Huskies, Katie and Spencer.
Mrs. Livingston is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Broadcasting from the Walter Cronkite School, and a Masters of Education. Mrs. Livingston is also certified to teach the Montessori elementary curriculum and holds endorsements in English as a Second Language and Drama, and has spent over 12 years of her career in low-income Title 1 schools, serving the neediest of students in our state.
